Coffee House in the Heart of Box

Sue and Pete arrived in Box in October 2021. Taking up residence in The Old Dairy, Market Place - which had a disused café in an outbuilding. This ignited the idea of reviving the café’s fortunes and the project to restore and revive this community hub began. They set a target to open for business on the 1st April 2022.

 

 Sue and Pete immediately started to look for new equipment and suppliers and answer the vital question, “who could supply the best coffee?” As luck would have it, (and luck always plays a part in everything they do,) they met Sean - a highly experienced barista and a coffee machine engineer.  Sean found a replacement for the old Faema Coffee machine and introduced them to Outpost Coffee Roasters of Nottingham. They supply the most fantastic Coffee.

 

Renovations began with a vengeance. Carpentry, new electrics, a boiler, Smeg cooker.  Renovating the outbuildings to house the many fridges and freezers! As well as creating disabled access for the café, toilet with baby change facilities and garden.

 

There were lots of discussions when it came down to the menu, and what to provide for the local Box community.  One thing was essential; the desire to supply good quality, locally sourced food.  The team started to meet with great local suppliers like Murielle from Bertinet; their croissants became the foundation for the coffee shop.  Bertinet always supplies fantastically fresh, reliable and delicious pastries and breads.

 

Another great supplier: Southview Eggs-a top quality product. The Wiltshire Bacon Co. -for sausages, bacon and ham.  Toby Haynes -the go-to for pasties and meat for the Chilli. The Great Cake Company -supplies the all-important vital gluten free cakes.  Eades of Bath- for cherry vine tomatoes and mushrooms. Without forgetting the cupboard staple -Heinz baked beans. The couple had achieved it, opening for business on the 1st April 2022.
